Many modern features such as WAP, voice dialling, calander missing.

The nokia nk402, a bit outdated? Well in this modern age of third generation mobile phones with built in calendars, WAP (though the jury is still out on its usefulness), infra-red ports and voice activated dialling does it have a place in todays range of phones?

Well the answer for me is a definite yes. It may not have the latest gizmos, but lets face it who actually uses all those features? It is especially good for those people with a budget as it is cheap, it can be picked up for a mere £40 on just talk.

However, price is not its greatest asset. Whilst a touch heavier than other better model phones weighing in at 170g, it has all the necessary features, a reasonable memory and the superb and very quick menu system we expect from nokia. It is a straightforward phone, however, when it comes down to essentials such as aerial strength and call clarity, it is still up there with the best of them. The aerial is something special and deserves a special mention as there were so many times where my nk402 could pick up reception where a 3210 simply couldn’t. Even now, it occasionally picks up a signal where my 7110 struggles.

It’s only downside is that it isn’t as customisable as other modern phones which have many ringtone and logo and caller group options. There are a plethora of covers for it though so your phone should get lost in a crowd, and a data cable can sort out the other features with suitable software! At the end of a day it’s a simple, sturdy device, one of the original in the new generation of nokias, but one of the best.
